Notes

  • 1. In the transcription of the Poll Book the modern spelling of place names has been added in brackets "()" to many of the entries so that a search will find them.
  • 2. "(-)" indicates who was voted for but this is included in count for original page.
  • 3. "Thomas Holman jun." is not in the Crouse Poll book. Only a "Thomas Holman of North Pickenham, Norfolk (no senior/junior tag) which leads one to question whether Pakenham is an error for Pickenham?
  • 4. "William Thompson" is not in the Crouse Poll book.
  • 5. "Thomas Watson" is not in the Crouse Poll book.
  • 6. "Peter Roberts" is not in the Crouse Poll book.
  • 7. "John Cooper" is not in the Crouse Poll book.

Places with no voters

The following places :-
    BODNEY, CALDECOTE, HOUGHTON-ON-THE-HILL and LANGFORD
had no one who lived there and voted because of a freehold in the same place.

Note that many people still voted based on a freehold held elsewhere. An example of this is Stow Bardolph with no entries but with the following :-

  • Francis Rising is under Hockering because of his freehold there but lives in Stow Bardolph.
  • William Barton a Clerk (Clergyman) is under Wiggenhall because of his freehold there but lives in Stow Bardolph.

South Greenhoe Hundred is followed in the Poll book by Grimshoe Hundred.
