Clergy, Grant of the Rectory, and Grant of Land

This has been found by the Norfolk transcribers for FreeREG, in a transcript of the Walcott register of baptisms 1559-1812, marriages 1558-1836, and burials 1558-1812.

         Alexander de Walcote.

1400. William de Sheffield, by the Prior of Ingham,
         alienated to him by Thomas Moor, in the
         16th of Richard II. [June 1392 - June 1393]
         as in Ingham, and after appropriated
         thereto.

         communicants.

This rectory impropriate was granted
(as I take it) with Ingham Priory, to Sir
William Woodhouse by K. Henry VIII., who
exchanged it with Bp. Rugg, with the said
Priory, for Hickling Priory &c., and this
impropriated rectory remains in the See of
Norwich, and is served by a Stipendiary
Curate, nominated by the Bishop.

Thomas, Son of Walter de Walcot, confirmed
by deed (undated) the deed of the land which
Peter, parson of this Church, gave to his
successors:- Witnesses. - Master Walter de
Sudfield; Sir Adam, parson of Worthested;
Mr. Peter la War, dean of Waxtonesham, &c.

           Vicars, or Perpetual Curates of Walcott.

1689 to 1706. William Harley is Curate.
1707. Jonath. Chaloner, Curate. [Signature in Register of Baptisms]
1690. John Collings, Dr. of Divinity, buried 20 January.
1709. The page of the Register is signed by
         Jonath. Chaloner, Rector of Lessingham & Vicar of
         Happisburgh, Curate Ibid.

1746. Thomas Hewitt, P.C. by the Bp. of Norwich.
1754. Thomas Hewitt, Curate of this Parish. He held the
         Incumbency till 1784.
1766. The Baptism recurs of a Son of Nathl. Gerard, Clerk.

1784. John Hewitt. licensed. Sept. 20.
1850. Horatio Nelson William Comyn, Vicar.
1887. At the death of Rev. H.N.W. Comyn, the Vicarage of Walcott
         was united to Happisburgh, by the Bishop of Norwich.
         [The name "William Muskett" has been crossed out.]
