"WIVETON, or Wiverton, on the west side of the river Glaven, 4½ miles N.W. by N. of Holt, has in its parish 240 souls, and about 1000 acres of land, extending northward to the shore, between Blakeney and Cley. G.N. Best, Esq., of Bayfield Hall, is lord of the manor, in right of his wife, but the greater part of the soil belongs to Lord Calthorpe, W. and J. Buck, J. Johnson, the Rev. J. Cotterill, and a few smaller owners. The Church (Virgin Mary,) has a fine tower, with six bells, purchased in 1809. The rectory, valued in the King's Book at £15, is in the patronage of the Executors of the late Geo. Windham, Esq., and incumbency of the Rev. Jas. Williams, for whom the Rev. Thomas Beckwith, of Cley, officiates. The glebe is about 30A., and the tithes have been commuted for £221 per ann."
