Chapel(1825-1910 Oak Street), Fakenham, Primitive Methodist

The church does not have a graveyard.

It was founded in 1822 in a room over a barn off Oak St to the north of where this building stood. This building was erected in 1825 and rebuilt in 1861. It closed in 1910 when the "Buckingham Memorial Chapel" was opened. It was then used as a Sunday School. It has since been converted to a house.

The Primitive Methodist church was an early 19th century (1807) secession from the Wesleyan Methodist church and was particularly successful in evangelising agricultural and industrial communities at open meetings. In 1932 the Primitive Methodists joined with the Wesleyan Methodists and the United Methodists to form the Methodist Church of Great Britain.
