"BROCKHALL, a parish in the hundred of Nobottle Grove, in the county of Northampton, 4 miles to the E. of Daventry. The London and North-Western railway passes through it. On the western side of the parish are the Roman way, Watling Street, and the Grand Junction canal. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough, of the value of £238, in the patronage of T. R. Thornton, Esq. The church, which is old, is chiefly in the Norman and early English styles, and is dedicated to SS. Peter and Paul. Brockhall Park is the seat of the Thorntons. The mansion stands on high ground, commanding a pleasant view. It contains a good portrait of Robert Catesby, the conspirator, by an unknown hand."
