"CRICK, a parish in the hundred of Guilsborough, in the county of Northampton, 6 miles S.E. of Rugby, and 6½ N.E. of Daventry. It has a station on the London and North-Western railway, which is 2 miles from the village. It is situated on the Union canal, near the ancient Watling Street. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough, value £890, in the patronage of St. John's College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Margaret. The charities amount to £70. There is a National Society's school, also girls' and infants' schools. The Independents have a chapel. Archbishop Laud was rector of this parish about seven years.
