"DENTON, a parish in the hundred of Wymersley, in the county of Northampton, 6 miles S.E. of Northampton. The village is small, and wholly agricultural. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough, in the patronage of Lord Boston, value with the rectory of Whiston annexed, £286. The church, dedicated to St. Margaret, has recently been enlarged. The charities amount to £17 per annum. Thomas Burton, Esq., is lord of the manor."
