The village is situated near the river Welland, which divides this county from that of Rutlandshire. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Peterborough, value £100. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The parochial charities produce about £3 per annum. The Marquis of Exeter is lord of the manor and sole landowner."
