" ATCHAM, a parish in the Wellington division of the hundred of BRADFORD (South), county of SALOP, 4 miles (S. E. by B.) from Shrewsbury, containing 489 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £11. 6. 8., and in the patronage of R. Burton, Esq. The Roman Watling- street passes through this parish, and crosses the Severn."
