"CHELMARSH, a parish in the hundred of STOTTESDEN, county of SALOP, 4 miles (S. by E.) from Bridgenorth, containing 458 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £6. 5. 8., and in the patronage of Sir J. Sebright, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. The navigable river Severn runs at a short distance eastward from the village."
