"EATON, a parish within the liberty of WENLOCK, county of SALOP, 4 miles (S.E. by E.) from Church Stretton, containing 566 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £5. H. and W. Lloyd, Esqrs. were patrons in 1810. The church is dedicated to St. Edith."
