"KEMBERTON, a parish in the Shiffnall division of the hundred of BRIMSTREE, county of SALOP, 3 miles (S.S.W.) from Shiffnall, containing 260 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, with the vicarage of Sutton- Maddock, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £5. 6. 5., and in the patronage of H. Oakes, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. Veins of coal are occasionally discovered in this parish."
