"LONG STANTON, a parish in the hundred of MUNSLOW, county of SALOP, 7 miles (S.W. by S.) from Much Wenlock, containing 261 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £7, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Hereford. The church is dedicated to St. Michael."
