"LONGDON UPON TERNE, a parish in the Newport division of the hundred of BRADFORD (South), county of SALOP, 3 miles (N. W. by N.) from Wellington, containing 95 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, -with the rectory of Pontesbury, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Manorial Court of Longdon upon Terne. The church is dedicated to St.-Bartholomew. The Shrewsbury canal passes through this parish and village, and is here crossed by the river Terne."
