"MIDDLETON SCRIVEN, a parish in the hundred of STOTTEBDEN, county of SALOP, 5 miles (S. S. W.) from Bridgenorth, containing 86 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £4. 6. 8. T. Rowley, Esq. was patron in 1812. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist."
