"UPTON MAGNA, a parish in the Wellington division of the hundred of Bradford South, a rectory remaining in charge, in the diocese of Coventry and Lichfield, the deanery of Salop, and archdeaconry of Salop. 101 houses, 667 inhahitants. In this amount is included the population of an extra-parochial place called Haughmond demesne, containing 60 inhabitants. 4 miles east of Shrewshury."

" PRESTON ON THE BOATS (or PRESTON BOATS), a township in the parish of Upton Magna, and in the Wellington division of the hundred of Bradford South, on the banks of the Severn. 2 miles south-east by east of Shrewsbury.
