The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

"BARWICK, a parish in the hundred of Houndsborough, in the county of Somerset, not far from Yeovillage The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £100, in the patronage of J. Newman, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. There are two flax mills in the village, which give employment to some of the workpeople. The chief residence is Barwick House."
