"CRICKET MALHERBIE, a parish in the hundred of Abdick, in the county of Somerset, 2 miles S. of Ilminster, its post town, and 2½ N.E. of Chard. The parish, which extends along the bank of the canal, is of small extent, and contains only six houses. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £80, in the patronage of Mrs. Elizabeth Pitt, who is lady of the manor. The church, dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene, is a stone structure, in the pointed style, consisting of nave, chancel, aisles, S. porch, and tower with spire.
