"DOWNSIDE, a tything in the parish of Midsomer Norton, county of Somerset, 2 miles N.E. of Shepton Mallet. The living is a curacy in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £65, in the patronage of the vicar. There is a Dissenting chapel, believed to be one of the oldest in this part of the country.
