"HARDINGTON-MANDEVILLE, a parish in the hundred of Houndsborough, county Somerset, 4½ miles W. of Yeovil, its post town and railway station on the London and Exeter line. The village is small, and the inhabitants are principally employed in agriculture. The soil is various. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £471. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is a plain stone edifice, with tower containing a clock and five bells. Here is a mixed school. Lord Portman is lord of the manor."
