BISLEY

"BISLEY, a parish in the first division of the hundred of Godley, in the county of Surrey, 7 miles to the N. of Guildford. Bagshot is its post town. The London and South-Western railway passes near it.

The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Winchester, value £188, in the patronage of J. Thornton, Esq. The church, an ancient building partly of brick and timber, is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. A mineral spring near the church is called St. John's Well. The parochial charities amount to £40 a year."
