"CHARLWOOD, a parish in the first division of the hundred of Reigate, in the county of Surrey, 3 miles S.W. of the Horley station of the London, Brighton, and South Coast line. It is situated near Timberham Bridge, on the river Mole, where the Danes were defeated."
