"TITSEY, a parish in the second division of Tandridge hundred, county Surrey, 5½ N.E. of Godstone, its post town, and 7½ S.E. of Stoat's Nest railway station. The village is situated in meadows and hills under Botley Hill, which rises to the height of 880 feet above sea-level. The inhabitants are chiefly engaged in agriculture, and in the quarrying of chalk for the making of lime."
