It was founded in 1669. It closed in 1967.
Starting with a conventicle in 1669, the history of the Burwash non-conformist congregations is complex and dates are not certainly accurate. The congregation was originally Independent, becoming Congregationalist in 1901. There was a chapel at this location from 1864 until it was demolished in 1970.
In 1972 the Congregational church joined with the English Presbyterian church to become the United Reformed Church. Some Congregational churches though did not take this path and became members of the Congregational Federation.
