"BUCKNALL-CUM-BAGNALL, a parochial chapelry, in the parish of Stoke upon Trent, the northern division of the hundred of Pirehill, in the county of Stafford, near Stoke-upon-Trent. Newcastle-under-Lyne is its post town. It is situated on the E. side of the Trent, and contains the townships of Bagnall, Bucknall, Eaves, and Ubberley.

Bucknall was separated from the parish of Stoke in 1807. The inhabitants are employed in the mines and manufactures of the district. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lichfield, value with the curacy of Bagnall annexed, £200, in the patronage of the Rev. E. Powys, incumbent. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a small bequest for education."

"BAGNALL, a chapelry and township in the parish of Stoke upon Trent, and hundred of Pirehill, in the county of Stafford, 5 miles from Leek, its post town. The living is a perpetual curacy annexed to the rectory of Bucknall."
