"CHEBSEY, a parish in the southern division of the hundred of Pirehill, in the county of Stafford, 1½ mile S. of Norton Bridge station of the North-Western railway, and 2 E. of Eccleshall, its post town. In the churchyard formerly stood a stone obelisk, like that at Draycot.

The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lichfield, value £285, in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Lichfield. The church is an old Gothic edifice, dedicated to All Saints."

"COLD-NORTON, a township in the parish of Chebsey, in the southern division of the hundred of Pirehill, in the county of Stafford, 2 miles E. of Hilcot. The Norton Bridge railway station on the London and North-Western line is in this township. The Wesleyans have a chapel. There are National schools, and several small charities."
