CHORLTON, a chapelry, in the parish of ECCLESHALL, union of NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME, N. division of the hundred of PIREHILL and of the county of 
STAFFORD, 6 miles (S.S.W.) from Newcastle; containing 243 inhabitants. It comprises 1921a.1r.36p., and is crossed by the Grand Junction railway. The living isa perpetual curacy; net income, £71; patron, Bishop of Lichfield. A rent-charge of £244.1.4. has been awarded to the prebendary of High Offlow as a commutation for the tithes of this chapelry and the township of Chorlton-Hill. The chapel is dedicated to St. Lawrence. 

CHORLTON-HILL, a township, in the parish of ECCLESHALL, union of NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME, N. division of the hundred of PIREHILL and of the county 
of STAFFORD; containing 122 inhabitants. There is a place of worship for dissenters.
