"DUNSTON, a chapelry in the parish of Penkridge, E. division of the hundred of Cuttlestone, in the county of Stafford, 2½ miles N.E. of Penkridge station, and 3½ S. of Stafford. Penkridge is its post town. It is situated near the Stafford and Worcester canal, and the London and North-Western railway passes through the parish. There is an extraordinary echo in a field near the chapel.

The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Lichfield, value £67, in the patronage of Lord Hatherton. The church, dedicated to St. Leonard, is a small brick structure, with a stone tower. The Earl of Lichfield is lord of the manor."
