"SHEEN, a parish in the S. division of the hundred of Totmonslow, county Stafford, 4½ miles N. of Alstonfield, its post town, and 3½ S.E. of Longnor. The village, which is of small extent, is situated on the river Dove. The inhabitants are chiefly agricultural.

The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Lichfield, value £63. The church, dedicated to St. Luke, has a tower containing six bells, and several stained windows. It was nearly rebuilt in 1829, at a cost of £1,100. The parochial charities produce about £2 per annum. There is a free school, with an endowment of £13 per annum."
