Topographical Dictionary of England, Samuel Lewis - 1859

TIPTON (ST MARTIN) : The LIVING is a perpetual curacy; net income, £419; patron, J.S. Hellier, Esq.; appropriator, the Prebendary of Frees, or Pipa Minor, in the Cathedral of Lichfield.

The church, a neat structure of brick, with a tower and cupola, was erected at a cost of £1500, in 1797, to replace the ancient edifice, which had become dilapidated.
