The church building was originally opened as a Catholic school in 1867. After the school closed in 1931, the building was converted into a church, which opened in 1935 (replacing St Mary's Chapel at Foxcote House).
The church closed in July 2013 and the congregation moved to Our Lady and St Michael in Shipston-on-Stour. The former school and church building then becomin the Ilmington Community Shop and Cafe.
