"BAYTON, a parish in the lower division of the hundred of Doddingtree, in the county of Worcester, 3 miles to the S. of Alesbury Mortimer, 6½ miles to the W. of Bewdley, and 10 from Kidderminster. It is on the border of Shropshire, and in the union and county court district of Cleobury Mortimer. The living is a vicarage united with that of Mamble, in the diocese of Hereford. The church, dedicated to St. Bartholomew, is a plain, neat building. The parish, which is but scantily inhabited, contains several coal-pits."
