The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

"ODDINGLEY, a parish in the lower division of the hundred of Oswaldslow, county Worcester, 2½ miles S.E. of Droitwich, its post town, and half a mile E. of Dunhampstead railway station. The parish, which is of small extent, is intersected by the Birmingham and Gloucester railway, and by the Birmingham and Worcester canal. The village, which is small and wholly agricultural, is situated on the eastern side of the road from Birmingham to Worcester.

The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £181, and the glebe comprises 12 acres. The living is a rect* [the asterisk denotes that there is a parsonage and glebe belonging to the living] in the diocese of Worcester, value £173. The church, dedicated to St. James, is an ancient stone structure with a tower containing three bells. The parochial charities produce about £1 per annum. There are Sunday and day schools on the British system, chiefly supported by Mrs. Galton. J. H. Galton, Esq., is lord of the manor."
