IN AFFECTIONATE MEMORY OF
LIEUT. GENERAL SIR HERBERT
EDWARD WATTS, K.C.B., K.C.M.G.
WHO DIED OCT. 16TH 1934 AGED 76 YEARS
HE JOINED THE 14TH FOOT IN 1880 AND
COMMANDED THE 2ND BATTALION 1904
HE SERVED WITH DISTINCTION IN THE GREAT
WAR. HE COMMANDED THE 7th DIVISION
AND THE XIX CORPS. THIS TABLET IS
ERECTED BY HIS BROTHER OFFICERS OF THE WEST
YORKSHIRE REGIMENT 7th DIVISION AND THE XIX CORPS STAFF


IN AFFECTIONATE MEMORY OF MAJ. GEN.
SIR WILLIAM FRY, K.C.V.O., C.B.
WHO DIED AGED 76 YEARS IN 1934
HE JOINED THE 14TH FOOT IN 1878,
COMMANDED THE 2nd BATTALION IN
SOUTH AFRICA 1900-1904. COMMANDED
THE 30th DIVISION 1915-1916 IN THE
GREAT WAR AND WAS LIEUT. GOVERNOR
OF THE ISLE OF MAN 1919-1926. HE WAS
COLONEL OF THE WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT FROM
1914 TO THE DAY OF HIS DEATH. THIS TABLET IS
ERECTED BY THE OFFICERS AND N.C.O.s OF THE REGIMENT.
