"YORK ST MARY BISHOPHILL THE YOUNGER, a parish in the Ainsty."


"COPMANTHORPE, a chapelry in the parish of YORK ST MARY BISHOPHILL THE YOUNGER, (that part which is in the ainsty of the city), and East riding of the county of YORK, 4 miles S.S.W. from York, containing 281 inhabitants. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists, also a small endowment for the instruction of children."


"HOLGATE, a township in the parish of YORK ST MARY BISHOPHILL THE YOUNGER, (that part which is in the ainsty of the city), and East riding of the county of YORK, 1 mile S.W. from York, containing 83 inhabitants. Lindley Murray, author of a popular English Grammar, and other school books, who was born in Pennsylvania, North America, in 1745, died, in 1826, at this place, where he had long resided."


"UPPER POPPLETON, a chapelry in the parish of YORK ST MARY BISHOPHILL THE YOUNGER, (that part which is in the ainsty of the city), and East riding of the county of YORK, 4 miles W.N.W. from York, containing 346 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the peculiar jurisdiction and patronage of the Dean and Chapter of York. The chapel is a small edifice. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists."
