The Tenants of Richard Darley, Lord of the Manor of Bishop Wilton 1765.


In 1765 Richard Darley was the lord of the Manor in Bishop Wilton with part ownership by Edward Norton (only son and heir of William Norton of Knaresborough, surviving son of William Norton of Sawley and later of Scriven with Tentergate, esqs. dec'd.) and sold the estate in 1768 to Matthew Smith of Reighton who in turn sold the whole estate to Christopher Sykes of Sledmere in 1786. A Survey, Valuation and Rentals of estates of Richard Darley and Edward Norton at Bishop Wilton took place in 1765, prior to the sale.
