The place:

A parish town, in Hunsley-Beacon division of Harthill; 4 miles from Beverley, 7 from Market Weighton, 10 from Driffield, 26 from York. Population 380. The Church is a rectory, dedicated to St. Mary, in the deanery of Harthill.
