  • from the mid-nineteenth century onwards. These can very useful for the more prominent members of the town, giving births, christenings, details of marriages including lists of presents, deaths and obituary.

More information on these can be often obtained from technical journals, The Builder, Engineer, The Grocer, Gas World etc., which often gave details of them and their families. An example from Filey is Arthur F. Guy who tried to persuade the Filey Local Board to introduce electric lighting and was more successful with the Bridlington Local Board.

Council records on film which give details of war time evacuees from Hull, Sheffield and Hartlepool. (Not available to the public.)
