Transcriptions: Shortly after I took the original photos, (the late) David Simpson suggested that I number the photos as per the ERYFHS MIs booklet so that people could find the images easily. He spent quite some time numbering the images and couldn't find some. Doing this was fine at the time, but with hind-sight was a bad move for several reasons. As a result, around 75% of the photos have the same numbers as the entries in the above document - the numbering is of no use now except to indentify the photo in case of an error because there is an index to the surnames which there wasn't when David did the numbering. I have attempted to transcribe the MIs exactly as per the headstones etc. but be aware that I have been known to make mistakes! The transciptions were done in 2019, and I have omitted non-personal texts (such as verses), but have put in the heading texts.
These photos of the Flamborough Churchyard gravestones etc. were taken in 2002 and updated in 2013 and consequently no graves after this date appear here.
The index consists of a table of surnames (below), each being linked to the first image of that surname. To get to the rest of the same surname images, simply use the scroll facilities on each succeeding page.
The number for the photograph is given in the caption below the photograph.
I made no attempt to remove grass from graves (no tools) but tried to remove the moss etc. from the graves which consist of a cross.
If you can identify the names on the "Unknown" graves, please drop me a line by email (use the "Report Problems" link at the bottom of the relevant page).
There are three sizes of photos: the thumbnail images which link to a page containing a larger image (640 by 480 pixels), and then a full size image which is linked from the previously mentioned larger image. The full size image can of course be saved for your own personal use.
You will appreciate that there is ample scope for errors in this, so if you find any, please drop me a line - there is a link to the error form at the bottom of each page.
