The place:

A parish town, in the wapentake of Buckrose; 4 miles from Sledmere, 9 from Driffield, 24 from York. Population 157. The Church, a peculiar of the Dean and Chapter of York, is a vicarage, dedicated to St. Peter, in the deanery of Buckrose.
