LONDESBOROUGH:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1750.

"LONDESBOROUGH, a parish in the E.R. of Yorkshire, (given as "LANESBOROUGH"), 6 m. from York, a noble seat of the E. of Burlington (to whom it gives title of baron) whose ancestor, Richard E. of Cork in Ireland, was by K. Cha. I. created Ld. Clifford of Lanesborough. The late Elizabeth Css. of Burlington founded and endowed an almsh. here, for 12 aged persons being decayed farmers."
