The place:

A parish town, in Bainton-Beacon division of Harthill; 7¼ miles from Driffield, 9 from Pocklington, 10½ from Beverley, 22 from York. Population 398. The Church is a perpetual curacy, dedicated to All Saints, in the deanery of Harthill.
