NUNKEELING:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"NUNKEELING, a parish in the northern division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, ICf- miles N.E. from Beverley, containing, with the hamlet of Bewholme, 243 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York, endowed with £600 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of R. R. Dixon and H. Hudson, Esqrs. A priory of Benedictine nuns, in honour of St. Mary Magdalene and St. Helen, was founded here in the reign of Stephen, by Agnes de Archis, the revenue of which, at the dissolution, was £50. 17. 2."
