WITHERNWICK: Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.
"WITHERNWICK, a parish partly within the liberty of ST-PETER-of-YORK, but chiefly in the northern division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, 12 miles E. from Beverley, containing 370 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the peculiar jurisdiction and patronage of the Prebendary of Holme in the Cathedral Church of York, rated in the king's books at £6. 7. 1. The church, dedicated to St. Alban, is an ancient structure. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Matthias North gave land producing a trifling income for teaching and apprenticing children of this parish."
