The place:

A Chapelry in the parish of Aysgarth, wapentake of Hang West; 5 miles from Hawes, 11 from Reeth, 12 from Leyburn, 18 from Richmond, 22 from Sedbergh, 55 from York, 246 from London. Population 765. The Church is a perpetual curacy, dedicated to St. Oswald, in the deanery of Catterick, diocese of Chester.
