"CAYTON, a parish in the wapentake and liberty of Pickering Lythe; 4 miles S. of Scarbro'. Here is an ancient church, dedicated to St. Leonard, also a small neat Methodist and Primitive Methodist chapel, and a school with an endowment of 1½1. per ann. Population, with Deepdale & Killerby, 447."

"EASTFIELD, a village in the parish of Cayton, did not exist pre 1900. The following Eastfield information was kindly supplied by Tina Morgan in 2007:
The Council estate was started about 1950 and Holy Nativity's foundation stone was laid in 1953 and was opened 1954 (not sure of the exact dates), there is a certificate on the wall which says 25th May 1954 (if I remember corectly.) Before 1950 there was a farm which was used later by the Council as a storage/works/office until about late 1980's when everythig was transfered to another building. The farm was owned by a family called Jackson who had it for many years, I cannot recall what the farm was called (I have tried to do some research on it for another party who was interested in its history). The barn to the farm was once used by a dance school (circa 1957) and run by a Miss Popplewell (now Mrs Mennell)."
