Clare Smithson donation in St. Mary's Church, Cundall.
| The DONATION of CLARE SMITHSON, Late of Aldborough Lodge Gentlewoman, who departed this life June the twentieth - 1803 Twenty Pounds a year forever, to be secured out of my Effects as my Executors shall think proper, and distributed by the Church-wardens and Overseers, as follows, namely by providing Twelve Twopenny Loaves, or more or less, as need shall require, to be laid upon a Shelf, in some conspicuous part of the Church at Cundall, every Sunday, and one Loaf given to each of the most necessitous Poor, who shall attend divine service there, and no other, unless prevented by illness. Five Shillings to each of them on Christmas Day in each Year, on the like condition. eight bushels of Coals, to each at or before Christmas in each year, and the like quantities afterwards when most wanted, a second time. All which Coals shall at all Times be carried to Cundall by the Farmers there Gratis, and if any thing remain, it shall be Distributed to the most proper objects of Charity. |
