The place:

A Chapelry in the parish of Gilling West, wapentake of Gilling-East; 8 miles from Northallerton and Richmond, 11 from Darlington (Co. Durham). Population 148. The Church is a perpetual curacy, dedicated to St. Mary, under Gilling.
