  • On New Year's Day, Miss Amelia ROSS, at the great age of 117 years, being born (as nearly as could be ascertained) in the year 1741, in the parish of Magilligan, where her ancestors and their descendants have resided for centuries. Her father, however, with his family became residents in Newtownlimavady about 110 years ago, during which period she was never known to be absent from the place for any length of time. It may be mentioned that within the last year she could read and write without spectacles. She lived in the reign of five sovereigns of Great Britain and Ireland, and was probably at the time of her death the oldest of all her majesty' subjects.

  • On the 23rd inst., at Norton, the son of Mr Wm. HORSLEY, (late of Norton,) whitesmith, aged 3 years.
  • Mary WALSH, who had attained the advanced aged of 111 years, met her death under the following circumstances. Her usual mode of living of late was by seeking alms from all who passed the road leading to the corner of the park, about three miles from Killarney. Having had occasion to crawl across the road on a dark evening, a man who drove a horse and car approached, and the wheels of the car passed over her body.

The deceased gentleman, who was 64 years of age, was brother to the late Rev. Dr. BEAUMONT, whose death in 1855, in the pulpit, at Hull, was equally sudden. Mr Beaumont had resided in Bradford nearly 40 years, and had been actively associated with the public institutions of the town.

  • The Earl of Jersey, who succeeded to the earldom on the demise of his father, on the 3rd inst., expired on Monday, at Brighton. The deceased nobleman had for months past been in declining health, and early in the last spring repaired to the south of France, but his lordship only received temporary relief. Since his return home he has gradually continued to get weaker until Monday, when he succumbed to consumption, aged 51. The deceased earl married in 1811, Julia, eldest daughter of the late Sir Robert PEEL, by whom he leaves three sons and two daughters. Viscount Villiers (now Earl of Jersey), was born in 1845.
