Geographical and Historical information from the year 1750.

"ADEL, (given as "ADDLE") a parish in the West Riding of Yorkshire, not far from Leeds, is noted for a moor adjacent to it, on which, an. 1702, were discovered the foot-steps of a roman T. many fragments of their urns, and of a large stone-aqueduct; and at a little distance from thence is a roman camp, pretty entire, with the ruins of their sepulchral monuments."


"COOKRIDGE, in the parish of Adel, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, in the road from Ilkley to Addle, has Black-Hill in it, where many Roman coins have been dug up."
